This power supply lead can be used with any of our GSM trackers, and is intended for use where a 12 volt supply is available. Use of this lead therefore negates the need for regular battery replacement.
The Power Back Up function ensures that if the 12 volt power supply is cut for whatever reason, the tracker will revert to battery power for as long as the back up batteries last or until the 12 volt supply is restored.
The leads simply clip on to the trackers’ battery clip lead and also to the battery holder, and only two further connections are required – the red wire goes to a positive supply and the black wire goes to ground.
When using in a vehicle there are two wiring options:
(1) If you connect the red wire to an ignition sensed positive supply, the tracker will only operate when the ignition is on. In this case, a tracking request will report the location, date and time (if used on the Vodafone network) that the ignition was last switched off. Wiring in this way ensures no battery drain whilst the 12 volt supply is not receiving a charge, however the bug function will not work whilst the ignition is off.
(2) If you connect the red wire to a permanently live positive supply, the tracker function will always report the current position and the bug function will always be available. However, the tracker will always be drawing power from the 12 volt source.
The positive connection should be fitted with a 1 amp in line fuse (not supplied).
